Romeo and Juliet: Persuasive Essay Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by the famous William Shakespeare. It involves two star-crossed lovers that experience a series of unfortunate events that ultimately leads to their deaths. After reading or seeing Romeo and Juliet, there’s one question that remains. Who exactly is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Many may say Romeo, some may disagree and blame Friar Lawrence, but the answer lies in the term that was coined by Shakespeare himself. Romeo and Juliet were star-crossed lovers, or a pair of lovers whose relationship is cursed to fail because of the alignment in the stars. In other words, you can say that fate is responsible for Romeo’s and Juliet’s death. The moment that Romeo and Juliet met was that start of it all. Romeo and Benvolio only knew about the Capulets’ party because a serving man had mistaken them for Capulets. (Act 1; Scene 2) But did they have to go to the party? No. Romeo onl y went because Benvolio persuaded him as a way to show that there are more beautiful women than Rosaline. Romeo even stated â€Å"Some consequence yet hanging in the stars / shall bitterly begin his fearful date† on the way to the Capulets. (Act 1; Scene 4) Translating into the modern text, Romeo means he has a feeling that the party will be the start of something bad that will end with his death.
